Jonathan K. Barger is an Associate at Butler Pappas.
Jon focuses primarily on property claims and related litigation, with an emphasis on large and complex losses. His practice experience includes assisting insurers with first party claim issues ranging from assistance with claims investigations, conducting examinations under oath, providing coverage opinions, and defending insurers against allegations of breach of contract and bad faith. Jon also has significant experience in defending third party/liability claims related to large property losses and in pursuing subrogation.
Jon has handled losses including commercial fires, automotive fires, residential fires, malfunctioning and leaking sprinkler systems, roof leaks, plumbing leaks, wind damage, and many other types of property loss. Jon has worked on property claims ranging from thousands of dollars to claims in excess of $250 million dollars.
He also counsels internationally-based insurers on claims involving significant liability exposures in the United States.
Jon is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Wisconsin. He is a member of the Trial Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and is also admitted to practice pro hac vice before a numerous other federal trial courts. He is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
