A Partner at Butler, David J. Maldoff practices in our Coverage Defense Department, where he applies his extensive first-party coverage experience. David has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2004 and is based in our Tampa office. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Middle District of Florida, and the Northern District of Florida.

David received his Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from the University of Florida in 1999, followed by his Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2003.

David primarily focuses on defending First-Party Property coverage claims and lawsuits brought by homeowners, condominium associations, and businesses, many of which involve multi-million dollar exposure. He is equipped to handle all types of property claims, focusing on claims involving collapse, sinkholes, windstorms, and the presence of Chinese drywall.

David has shared his knowledge of Chinese drywall coverage issues at seminars conducted by the Property Loss Research Bureau (PLRB) and Harris Martin Publishing. He has also presented at PLRB regarding post-loss duties and given in-house presentations on various topics to carriers and third-party administrators. David takes great pride in organization, working efficiently, and responding to clients on time.

David believes in the importance of giving back. He believes in the impact it has on both the community and volunteers. As Butler’s Community Service Committee Chair, David helps bring purpose to the firm through meaningful service projects and promotes strong teamwork through shared efforts.
